Wash and Wax Day
One of the common club activities is to wash and wax the airplane. Our fuel supplier at Vee Neal Aviation loaned us their hose and water supply, we applied Extreme Simple Green for the wash and followed with a coat of Starbrite Marine Polish. These photos were taken on a warm Saturday in September and show the result of our hard work.

In the hangar, right wing view.

The Left Wing Goes On An Adventure
The left wing on a relatively clear day over Lake Michigan and the coast of Illinois.

The same view over the left wing, but this time in the clouds.

Above the clouds.

At night, illuminated by the beacon.

And finally, the left wing at night one instant later when the beacon has cycled off.

Flight Challenges
James takes a field trip to Put-in-Bay, Ohio in May and wins the first of the club flight challenges for 2012.

Just under the wire on December 13, 2012 the second of the club flight challenges was completed with a team flight to the Piper Museum in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Here’s RD who flew the outgoing leg,

and Ed who flew the return trip,

and the Archer patiently waiting for the pilots to finish their museum tour.

Aerial Photography Flights
Stopping for lunch at Rostraver after an aerial photography trip to Masontown, WV.

Lunch is over and we’re back at Palmer Airport. Let’s open the window for ventilation, taxi back to the hangar, and turn the Archer over to the next pilot on the schedule.

Palmer Airport Fun
Which of these planes is owned by the Pittsburgh Flying Club? (You get two guesses!)

James
Here is James making a very nice landing at Put-in-Bay, Ohio in a strong gusty crosswind. Notice how his passenger is having trouble holding the camera still, but the pilot still sets down in the center of the runway and remains there through the run out. Impressive work, James!
